Most of us find it hard to write a review, many people actually find the hardest bit the starting point, starting with a blank piece of paper so to speak. With luck this page should help to to remember all those parts of your wedding photography that compelled you to tell the world. We will of course ignore the fact that I asked if you would when I sent you the link to this page.

Your review should be positive,constructive and useful to other couples who may be looking for an excellent photographer. Your review should concentrate on all the great things about your photographer and how he photographed your wedding, how your photographer made you feel, what your friends said about your wedding photographer, how well your photographer communicated before, during and after your wedding. The quality of the images and albums is good information to include in your review. Is there a stand out moment featuring your photographer? If there is please include it. Finally the question most people would ask if they met you to talk about wedding photography, would you recommend your photographer to your friends and family?

Church weddings in Derbyshire

Way back in medieval times, marriage was much more informal. Couples could make a promise to each other in front of a witness anywhere or time, and this was recognised as a binding contract. In fact, it was considered enough to call God as a witness; His power was deemed to be enough to override His lack of physical presence! This of course led to many a Knight making a declaration of marriage to a girl, having his wicked way then vanishing, leaving her to suffer the consequences.

As many marriages in Derbyshire, like the rest of the country, were arranged to bring money or power into the families hands, or to maintain status and position in the community, arranged weddings between members of the family were common. In the 11th century the Council of Westminster decreed that no man could arrange the marriage of any female in his family without church approval, and slowly the church began to have an influence, restricting inter-family relationships and bringing the ceremony into the Church itself.

To start with, weddings commonly took place in the church porch, which is why this space is often so large in many churches. By the 15th century, Trent Council decreed that weddings that took place without a priest was nullified, and the Church was now established as the only place to get married.

The standard form of the marriage vows, “To have and to hold from this day forward, for better or for worse, in sickness and in health, till death do us part” were incorporated into the Book of Common Prayer in 1552 and have played a central part in church weddings ever since.

The architecture of many churches in Derbyshire makes for very picturesque settings, and the grounds of the church have become the traditional place for many of the professional photographs to be taken. Both the signing of the register and the happy family group outside the church door are essential photographs at weddings, for both the professional photographer and many of your Derbyshire wedding guests.

SERVICES INCLUDED FOR THE FEE STATED ABOVE: A further pre-wedding meeting (to confirm final arrangements); Attend the wedding rehearsal (if agreed); Contact with all relevant parties to confirm arrangements; Pictures of the bride getting ready (if agreed); Formal and informal service pictures of the service (as permitted by service); Traditional and informal pictures taken after the ceremony; Traditional and informal pictures taken at the reception; A digital slideshow for your image selection; Your chosen photography presentation album. ENTIRE AGREEMENT: This agreement contains the entire understanding between Neal Morgan and THE CLIENT. It supersedes all prior and simultaneous agreements between the parties. The only way to change or add to this agreement is to do so in writing, and providing the document is signed by all the relevant parties. RESERVATION: Upon submitting this form and your booking fee, Neal Morgan will reserve the time and date agreed upon, and will not make other reservations for that time and date. For this reason, the booking fee is non-refundable, even if the date is changed or the wedding cancelled for any reason; including acts of God, fire, strike and/or extreme weather. The booking fee is to be paid at time of agreeing to the contract. The booking fee is applied towards the contracted wedding photography package. SLIDESHOW GALLERY: Within 28 working days of the wedding, Neal Morgan will endeavor to provide THE CLIENT with a link to an on-line gallery of images, and/or a slideshow. This will contain all photographs (in colour) taken at the event. Once THE CLIENT and/or GUESTS have provided Neal Morgan with a list of desired images; any printing, enlargements and digital manipulation will be carried out as requested. The list should specify any special requirements such as colour, black and white or sepia etc. No editing or printing of photographs will commence prior to receipt of this list and payment in full. CANCELLATION: If cancellation is received in writing within seven days of the signing of this contract, then all monies will be returned. In the event that THE CLIENT cancels the contracted services for wedding photography outlined in this contract after these seven days and before the wedding ceremony takes place, any monies paid will be forfeit. In the event that the PHOTOGRAPHER is unable to attend for any reason beyond his control: accident, illness or for any other reason, then the PHOTOGRAPHER will not be liable to compensate the client, except in the event of failure to appoint a stand in photographer for the event, in which case a return of any monies paid will be arranged. PRE-EVENT CONSULTATION: The parties agree to a pre-event consultation before the wedding date in order to finalise the actual shooting times and locations. EVENT GUIDE: THE CLIENT will be responsible for (or have someone designated for this responsibility) identifying people/objects of whom/which specific photographs are desired. The photographer will NOT be held accountable for not photographing desired people if there is no one to assist in identifying or gathering people for the photograph(s). 90 MINUTE WINDOW: (This is not relevant to all Weddings and is negotiable as to the CLIENT’S requirements.) The bride and/or groom agree to set aside at least 30 minutes before the commencement of the wedding ceremony and a 60 minute time frame afterwards for photographs that cannot be obtained during the ceremony or reception. The 60 minutes following the ceremony includes group photographs. If either the bride’s or groom’s late arrival (or any other reason outside of the photographer’s control) prevents this 90 minute window from occurring, Neal Morgan shall not be held liable for failure to take desired photographs. The PHOTOGRAPHER should be made aware or any cultural or faith aspects of the wedding that will enable him/her to produce the best pictures for the day. CO-OPERATION: The parties agree to positive co-operation and communication for the best possible result within the definition of this assignment. Neal Morgan is not responsible for key individuals’ failure to be present or to cooperate during photography sessions, neither for missed images due to details not revealed to Neal Morgan. Neal Morgan recommends that THE CLIENT designate an “event guide” (see PRE-EVENT CONSULTATION above) to point out important individuals to the photographer, whom THE CLIENT wishes to include in informal or candid photographs. SHOOTING TIME / ADDITIONS: The photography schedule and selected methodology are designed to accomplish the goals and wishes of THE CLIENT in a manner enjoyed by all parties involved. THE CLIENT and Neal Morgan agree that positive cooperation and punctuality are therefore essential. Shooting commences at the scheduled time. Should the ceremony start late due to any reason whatsoever Neal Morgan will not be held liable for any photographs not taken. HOUSE RULES: The photographer is limited by the guidelines of the ceremony official or the reception site management. THE CLIENT agrees to accept the technical results of their imposition on the photographer. Negotiation with the officials for moderation of guidelines is THE CLIENT’S responsibility; Neal Morgan will offer technical recommendations only. DIGITAL NEGATIVES, PRINTS and COPYRIGHTS: The photographs, digital negatives or prints produced by Neal Morgan are protected by Copyright Law (all rights reserved) and may not be reproduced in any manner without Neal Morgan’s explicit written permission. • GUEST COOPERATION: THE CLIENT is responsible for the conduct of their guests. THE CLIENT will direct all other service providers (florist, caterer, etc.) to provide any needed information and cooperation to the photographer. Coordination with other service providers is necessary to complete all the photography sessions as scheduled. THE CLIENT should share the photography schedule with other service providers to make sure that there is no conflict in times. In addition, events during the wedding day should be planned to make the best use of time from all vendors. Neal Morgan will not tolerate verbally or physically abusive behaviour, nor will it share its time or compete with guest photographers for the attention of the subjects. Unchecked guest conduct that interferes with photography may seriously affect the quality of the photographs taken and increase the number of times photos must be re-taken. If THE CLIENT is unable to control the conduct of their guests, resulting in an unacceptable degree of misconduct, or if the conduct of any of their guests damages the equipment of the photographer, it will result in the early or immediate departure of the photographer. THE CLIENT understands that in such an event, no refunds will be granted. COMPLETION SCHEDULE: The printing process can only start once Neal Morgan receives the order list for the required images. Digital processing & Printing takes approximately 8-12 weeks. PAYMENTS: THE CLIENT agrees that full payment is required in cleared funds before any Photography commences. FINAL DELIVERY: Neal Morgan will deliver the album and any additional material once printing is completed. METHOD OF REMUNERATION: Payment may be made in cash, cheque, BACS, or by credit/debit card (Paypal) PROOF OF PAYMENT CAN BE PROVIDED ON REQUEST PURCHASE OF DIGITAL NEGATIVES: If THE CLIENT desires a copy of the additional digital negatives or film negative (images not selected for the paid package) in high resolution, these images may be purchased at a specified cost and will be supplied in digital format with licence for home and non commercial usage. RIGHT OF WITHDRAWAL: Discovery of new information, changes to agreed circumstances, or other factors which tends to circumvent its policies may result in service withdrawal. Non-cooperation; changes in locations, facilities or available times; missed appointments, failure to return booking forms and contracts, and late payments are examples of contributing factors. Should Neal Morgan initiate the withdrawal, all fees will be returned, excluding deposit as well as fair market value for all services/products already provided. In case of withdrawal, £100.00 an hour is charged for all photography services already provided and £50.00 an hour is charged for all other services, consultations and all driving time, rounded up to the nearest half-hour. Nevertheless reasonable cooperation will be given by the PHOTOGRAPHER when changed circumstances occur. LIMIT OF LIABILITY: In the unlikely event of severe medical, natural, or other emergencies, it may be necessary to retain an alternative photographer. Neal Morgan will make every effort to secure a replacement photographer able and/or willing to provide a similar package as chosen in this contract at the same/similar tariff. If such a situation should occur and a suitable replacement is not found, responsibility and liability is limited to the return of all payments received for the event package. Neal Morgan takes the utmost care with respect to exposure, transportation and processing of photographs; including using professional grade equipment and professional grade backup equipment. However, in the unlikely event of THE CLIENT’S photographs being lost, stolen or destroyed for reasons within Neal Morgan’s control, the latter’s liability is limited to the return of all payments received for the event package. The limit of liability shall not exceed the contract price stated herein. The limit of liability for a partial loss of originals shall be a prorated amount of the exposures lost based on the percentage of total number of originals. NON-GUARANTEE: Although every possible care will be taken to produce photographs of all important and special events during the wedding, Neal Morgan cannot place an unconditional guarantee on the above. Neal Morgan will not be held responsible for any ruined photographs due to guests’ (or any other) flashes; or any other ruined photographs due to any other cause in or outside of Neal Morgan’s control. PERFORMANCE: The performance of this contract on behalf Neal Morgan shall be contingent upon acts of God, flood, fire, warfare, government laws or regulations, electrical failure, strikes by suppliers, and/or conditions beyond its control. SEVERABILITY: If any provision of this agreement is held to be invalid or unenforceable under the law, the validity of this agreement as a whole shall not be affected, and the other provisions of the agreement shall remain in full force and effect. AMENDMENTS: This contract has been freely negotiated and shall be recognised as the entirety of the agreement. Only those changes or modifications specifically placed in writing, attached, dated and signed by THE CLIENT and Neal Morgan at the time of acceptance of this contract shall be included.

Neal Morgan will advice THE CLIENT of any proposed use before any images are used. All objections from THE CLIENT will be honoured.

The Nottingham Hilton holds their autumn wedding show from 10.30am to 3.30pm on Sunday 9^th October this year. As usual the Nottingham Hilton wedding show will be showcasing a wide selection of local wedding suppliers. Many of whom are established and trusted within the network of wedding professionals offering Nottinghamshire and Derbyshire brides a quality service.

Nottingham wedding shows are an ideal opportunity for ‘brides to be’ to see, feel, taste, smell and try on some of the many options open in today’s marketplace. Taking photography as a great example. Whilst my website shows many of the great images I have made and holds a lot of information about my services and albums, it is only when you come to a wedding show or arrange a one to one meeting with me that you can feel the quality of the albums and compare, say our Italian bookbound album to one of our magnetic designer collection. The advantage to the ‘bride to be’ of a wedding show is that you can meet me to get a sense of the quality of my albums and you can gauge if I would be the sort of person you would want working at your wedding whilst you remain anonymous and without any commitment.

July 2011 sees a beautiful, bright Saturday for my first wedding as first photographer at the Nottinghamshire venue of Kelham hall. As usual I have visited the venue before the wedding to meet the head staff and find out all the usual spots for portraits and groups, with this knowledge I’m free to wonder around Kelham Hall and its impressive grounds to see where I want to take my lovely couple. I also have a plan for if the great British weather prevents us from holding much of the photograph outside.

You will have noticed I have not included any images of the couple whose wedding it was, this is because I always ask my couples permission after they have seen the images before I actually post any.
